Most of us feel we fall into a category of scientific or creative. Angela Muhlnickel is one of the lucky few who seem to equally use their right and left brain. And she certainly does in her jewelry line, Flora and Fawn. Dual degrees in both metalsmithing and botany, Angela says that “jewelry fabrication is the perfect marriage of the creativity and the scientific process.” Admittedly, much inspiration comes from nature, however, Angela also feels inspired by the clean lines and simple geometry of the 1950s aesthetic.Angela individually hand-enamels her jewelry through an intense process of applying powdered glass to copper and firing it at 1500 degrees Fahrenheit until it melts into the smooth enamel surface.
