María Belen de la Cruz Torres Capula, Mexico
I have lived in Capula all my life with my family and friends. Capula is a community that always has dedicated itself to elaborating pottery and cultivating the earth. I live with my husband Fernando, my two daughters and my baby son, who was just born a few months ago.
We would like to be able to buy a new kiln for firing our pieces in because currently we fire our pieces in my father in-laws kiln. This will allow my father in-law and brother’s and sister’s in-law to fire in their own kiln. Fernando and I have worked in clay since we were children. I, together with other girls from my community begin by playing with clay and later on began seriously supporting our mothers in decorating and painting pieces
My dream is to have a well equipped workshop which does not contaminate and uses natural resources responsibly and that provides us and my children with a dignified life. We hope that in five years we will have more stability and in ten years have a highly recognized workshop.
