Specioza Mukobwuteta Brown – Rwanda
My name is Specioza Mukobwuteta Brown. I am from Rwanda. In 1959, my country experienced a civil war (genocide) and my parents ran away into exile in Tanzania. I was brought up in Tanzania. This is where I went to school. I cam back to my original home in 2003 after Rwanda was liberated from genocide by RPF. While I lived in Tanzania, I was the one of the founders and leaders of Tanzania Association of Women Entrepreneurs (TAWE) until 2003.
I am a mother of 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Three of my children live in Tanzania, one in the USA. I have 2 grandchildren, a girl who is 6 years old and a boy who is 2 years old. My family is so special because now my children are older and we can discuss issues. They give me a lot of ideas which are very useful.
I am seeking a Nest loan for the growth of my business and also I need a market for my products. I started my craft business in 2004 working with women’s groups in handcrafts, helping poor women who have the skill and also training new ones. Also coordinating groups and looking for the market for their products. By doing so these women earn income and support their families and I sell their products at a mark-up to earn a living too. In short both me and the women can earn our daily bread.
My dreams in five years are to have a big market for our products where can be able to supply many products and earn good income. This may be possible using Nest loan and market for our products. We have the capacity to produce high quality products in big quantity. We need capital to make this happen. We have the will and we believe that where there is a will, there is a way.
Nest loan will not only help me grow my business, but though the loan, Nest will provide women survivors of genocide and war with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty into stability and self-sufficiency.
