The southern city of Mardin has the highest suicide rates for women in all of Turkey. But too often these “suicides” are instead honor killings. Nest has partnered with a United Nations Development program that serves the women in this region. By providing women with the necessary funding to start businesses that can support themselves and their families, they can escape a family structure that promotes discrimination, abuse or death.
